On March 6, 2016, Iowa Radon Systems started in Iowa City with a simple goal: make radon testing and mitigation easier and more honest for Iowa families. Ten years later, we’re marking our 10th anniversary of serving Central Iowa residents and small businesses. This is a thank-you to everyone who made it possible, and a look at what’s stayed the same since day one. If you’re new to us, our

page is a good place to see what we do.

## Where We Started

Ryan Coleman founded our

Iowa City radon company

with a belief that homeowners shouldn’t have to sit through a sales pitch to find out what a radon system costs. Radon was, and still is, a serious issue in Iowa. Every county in the state is in EPA Radon Zone 1, and radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer. People needed straight answers, fair prices and work they could trust.

That idea shaped everything that came after: the free virtual estimate, flat-rate pricing, Iowa HHS-credentialed technicians and a warranty that means something.

> **From Ryan Coleman, Owner & CEO**
>
> “When we started, I wanted every customer to know their price before anyone showed up at their door, and to never feel pressured. Ten years in, that’s still how we work. Thank you for trusting us with your homes.”

## What Hasn’t Changed in 10 Years

### Free virtual estimates

You still don’t have to book an in-person visit just to get a price. Send us photos and your test result, and we’ll send back a system design and a flat-rate price. You only book an on-site visit after you have the number.

### Flat-rate pricing, no high-pressure sales

Our pricing is mid-market to highly competitive. We consistently undercut larger franchise competitors, and we don’t upsell on install day. The price you approve is the price you pay.

### Credentialed technicians

Every technician who comes to your home is credentialed through the Iowa Health and Human Services radon program and holds training from at least one of NRPP, NRSB, CERTI or ICA School. Our guide on

verifying an Iowa radon contractor

 explains what those credentials mean.

### A 5-year warranty

Every system and installation we do carries a 5-year warranty. If your post-mitigation results aren’t where they should be, we adjust the system.

### Results you can measure

We’ve achieved up to 98.9% radon reduction, and we routinely bring homes with readings above 4.0 pCi/L down below 1.0 pCi/L. Every system gets a post-mitigation test.

## How We’ve Grown

Ten years ago, most of our work was in Johnson County. Today, Johnson and Linn counties are still our home base, with strong density from Iowa City and Coralville to Cedar Rapids and Marion. But we now serve 27 counties across Central and Eastern Iowa: as far west as Dallas County, north to Story, east to Dubuque and south to Scott, and all points in between.

| Then (2016) | Now (2026) |
| --- | --- |
| Based in Iowa City | Still based in Iowa City, at 1275 W Highway 1 |
| Johnson County focus | 27 counties from Dallas to Dubuque and Story to Scott |
| Residential mitigation and testing | Mitigation, testing, system repairs and commercial systems |
| Free estimates | Free virtual estimates from photos |

Our services have grown too. Along with residential mitigation and testing, we now handle

radon system repairs

on systems from any installer, and

commercial radon systems

for builders, HUD multifamily properties and schools. See every town we cover on our

## The Team Behind It

A lot of people have made the first decade work. Ryan Coleman leads the company as Owner and CEO. Eddie Gilroy, our Director of Operations, oversees testing, installs and repairs across the region and makes sure every install meets Iowa HHS requirements. Hillary Jennings leads customer support, answering questions, setting up virtual estimates and keeping our 24/7 support line running. You can meet the team on our

.

## Thank You

To the homeowners who sent us photos of their basements, to the real estate agents and home inspectors who referred their clients, to the builders and property managers who trusted us with larger projects, and to the small businesses across Central Iowa: thank you. Your reviews on Google, Angi and Facebook have helped other families find us, and we don’t take that for granted.

## What’s Next

Our focus for the next ten years is the same as the first: honest prices, credentialed work and systems that bring radon levels down and keep them there. We’ll keep expanding our library of plain-language

radon guides

[/guide/ →](/guide/)

so Iowa homeowners can understand their options before they call anyone.

If you’ve never tested your home, there’s no better time. And if you already have a high result, send it our way.
